My dogs are at a sitter in Alaska and I am in Virginia. I will be home on Wednesday! I got a call from the sitter today and she is concerned about my male. He is 21 months and has very sensitive skin. When I left he had some sores on his neck which I believed were from my 13 month old female "chewing" on him as they tend to play rough with each other from time to time. The sitter has said a few days ago that she thinks it is from him itching with his back paws and not from Karleigh. Well the phone call tonight she is saying that it has turned to bumps that have puss coming out of them. What she is explaining seems to be like a really bad version of the bumps he gets on his face which his last vet said were like ingrown hairs. When he squeezed them little hairs would shoot out. Well we do not have a vet in our new place yet (hubby is in the army and we have them registered with the vet on post but they have not needed care) so the last
vet is the only advice on the issue that we have and it really did not seem to be much of a problem or a concern to the vet. The sitter has been cleaning his neck with antibacterial hand soap (which I am thinking may be making it worse rather than better) and she has been putting neosporin on it she also gave him a dose of benadryl this evening. I don't know any other way to explain it and hope this may be descriptive enough, but have any of you had a similar experience? Is there anything you could suggest I have her do until I get back in a couple of days and that way I can choose the vet he sees and also not subject him to more shots just because the sitter does not have his medical/shot records? I definitely do not want to jeopardize his health but I also want to make sure I am not getting ripped off and it sounds to me like the stuff he gets on his face just a little worse. can get her to send me a photo for anyone who may be able to judge better with a visual.
