My 4 year old dachshund had back surgery October first. Other than pooping in the house everything is going fine. He walks and plays as before. Little unsteady when he gets in a hurry. Before surgery he was completely house broken. He still barks to go out to empty his bladder and never does that in the house. He's not constipated and the stools are not thin but when he goes it's several stools in the floor. He doesn't seem to have complete control and I sense doesn't know when the urge is coming. This didn't just come on suddenly; it's been going on every since I brought him home from surgery. I haven't stressed this too much with the vest because I just thought it would improve by now. I'm posting this hoping someone has had this happen with their dog after back surgery and to see if your vet has given you a logical explanation. Have you experienced this with your dachshund after surgery and did it improve over time. I'm wondering if it's something as spasms and if there are medications that can help. I did call my vet this morning; he is out today. I talked to the technician hoping the vet would call me tomorrow but was told "No" I'll have to bring him in. Thanks
