[boxer lovers] 3 True Halloween Stories

I got this from a long time friend of mine and just had to share it with you.
My friend Sherri Taylor and I grew up at the dog shows together.

Being Halloween I have to tell these stories.

Many years ago we attended a Halloween party at one of my dad's clients. Early during the party trick-or-treaters were still coming to the door.

At one point 3 kids showed up, nearly crying, and without trick-or-treat bags. "Miss Kathy, Christopher stole our candy." Christopher was a huge Old English Sheepdog, neighbor clown, loved everyone and all the neighbor hood kids knew and loved him. Christopher was also an escape artist. And he was REALLY GREAT at it.

Kathy replaced the kids candy with cash. Sometime later, the missing Christopher (who had escaped from the back yard), came wondering in the front door carrying three pillow cases of candy.

I was standing outside a ring at a dog show, just watching some judging, when a golden retriever Came up to me and poked my pocket with his nose. Being a handler, I naturally had liver in my pocket. I looked down to see the dog sitting there, holding one of those orange plastic pumpkins in his mouth. He was off leash, and his human was about 10 feet away. I patted him on the head, and then spoke to the apparent owner, only to be ignored by the 2 legger, and to get poked in the pocket again by the golden. Ok, sometimes I can be a little slow......The golden set his pumpkin down, barked once, picked the pumpkin back up and poked me in the pocket again. I got it, I took out a piece of liver, and dropped it in his trick-or-treat bag. He picked up a paw, shook my hand as a thank you and went on his way.

And, I saved my favorite for last.

Knoxville K.C. And 3 other clubs hold shows at the Knoxville Fairgrounds the last weekend of October. The first year that Halloween fell on one of the nights that we were going to be at the show our daughters were very upset about the trick-or-treating possibilities. But I assured them that they could go from trailer to motor home and so on, it would be great.

Since there hadn't been any trick-or-treaters in the past, most people weren't prepared. But wallets came out, cupcakes, donuts, and even a couple of caramel apples were handed to mom for safe keeping, while cash, candy, fruit, and you can't forget the dogs, after all we were at a dog show, so dog treats were all dropped into the bag.

When we returned to the bus, the bags were dumped into a big bowl and we moved onto taking care of dogs. 2 days later Jeff was sitting at the table going through the candy bowl, Chrystal was watching him. All of a sudden Chrystal's little hand shot into the bowl and she grabbed something exclaiming "a dog treat", and she was off to feed it to her favorite dog. When she returned, the conversation began. Jeff wanted to know why she took and fed the "Combo" to the dog. When all was said and done, it was discovered that Jeff had eaten a bunch of those things - "they were really good" - he thought that they were some human junk food called Combos. In reality, they were dog treats.
