sterilising a 7 year old male

Actually its a good idea to have it done before 10, since it helps to prevent prostate cancer in their senior years. The vet will most likely charge a bit more due to age (after 5 yrs), but it is truly worth doing, plus it cuts down on him trying to mark territory if he is not 100% housebroken. If you are not using a male to breed, then anytime after the age of 9 months is a good time to have it done. Just watch his diet, because they have an attendance to put weight on afterwards. I am not a vet nor a professional breeder, although I have breed and have owned doxies for more than 50 years, so I can only speak from my own experiences.

P.S. Might even want to get his teeth cleaned while he is under, if the cost isn’t too high to add it. One of the problems doxies have is bad teeth after the age of 8.
