Subject: Piper- dachshund rescue
Hi Kim,
Piper is a female dachshund/beagle mix. She weighs approximately 14 pounds.
Dachshund look with a slightly taller body. She is a sweet little dog and
loves to be pet and held.
She was born 2/11/11.
Crate trained.
She is great with our 10 year old beagle. She is happy to wrestle and
roughhouse with her. She a hearty little dog.
She is a good walker and does well on 3+ mile walks.
She is sweet and great with adults.
She is not happy around children. We have a 5 year old next door to us and
visits often. She is not mean and has never snapped, but she is gets very
anxious and barks constantly when she is over. Within 30 seconds of the
child leaving she is fine and back to normal.
We have had her appx 2 months. During this period we hired a professional
trainer (Bob Millwood of Warwick, RI) with hopes things would improve. We
saw improvements in other areas (eye contact, listening to us, feeding time)
but the situation with children has not improved.
She has been treated by Hope Vet Care in Scituate, RI. She is up to date on
shots, Heartguard, and Frontline. She hasn't been spayed.
We took her into our home with best intentions through the offer of one of
the staff members at our vet. Our inability to have children in the house
has prompted us to take this action.
Thanks,
Kathy Arsenault
