From: Lois R Klapp [mailto:cnlklapp@verizon.net] Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2011 9:22 PM Penn Yan , NY - PB Dachshund! Pure Bred Dachshund Looking for forever/foster home! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Contact Denise: denisenin@yahoo.com (at yahoo.com). Vladimir (Vlad or Vladdy) is a pure bred, soft haired Dachshund. Black in color with a beautiful brown tone around his front/back paws, snout and chest. Overall, he is a classic looking Dachshund with an adorable puppy look. He was born on Dec. 31st 2009 and is presently 1 yr. 8mo. old. My husband and I got him and his sister when they were almost 4 months old out of Dundee , NY from a breeder. Vlad is up-to-date with all of his shots, neutered in 2010, and unlicensed. He visits the East View Veterinary Clinic in Penn Yan , NY . Paperwork available. RELATIONSHIP WITH OWNERS 100% loyal and lovable to HIS OWNERS. Stays in the vicinity, even off a lead. Listens to stay, sit, down, up, come (when you squat down and say ' Vladimir come'), no and 'go to bed'-may have to say once or twice with luring tone. Housebroken, will whimper when he needs to go out. Sometimes displays separation anxiety and will pull objects of ours into his kennel to lie with but never destroys, maybe nibble. He loves attention, cuddling on your lap and snuggling under blankets or anything to wrap up in. Very good during bath time. Loves walks and can be unhooked from his leash a few hundred feet from home and when told, 'go home' he will race to the front door and expects you to do the same or he will stop and wait! Loves to play 'chase' in the house until he gets tired from trying not to get caught! He loves to be a shadow, following us wherever we go, even in the house. And the moment you turn and 'jolt' at him saying 'what or get' in a playful tone he starts the 'chase' and will listen as soon as you calmly tell him 'no'. He loves squeaky toys but is very destructive to them so we try to get toys that will withstand his sharp little teeth and will last more than a day. . .so, no stuffed animals! However, he likes to play with plastic bottles. Loves treats and responds well to treats during training. He enjoys big bones but will become frustrated and whimper when he can't find a place to hide it. He's gentle taking food from hand. If he does seem hyper you can just tell him to be easy and he will gently take the treat. Will not consume inedibles. Kennel is kept in a separate room with the door open so he can come and go as he pleases. Water is always left out, sometimes he drinks it too fast and will start to cough. He's traveled a lot in cars; not his favorite but prefers to go rather than stay home, he just becomes very calm. If interested we will inform you of other likes and activities. BEHAVIOR/INCIDENTS: Vladimir is a very aggressive and unpredictable dog with children and adults that are not his owners. Most Dachshunds have a territorial and protective temperament with their home and owner that is trainable. But Vlad goes beyond this typical behavior. Vlad has had multiple incidents of aggression/violence towards children and adults. A list of these behaviors/incidents can be emailed or told to you over the phone. *If you are interested and/or have further questions regarding Vladimir , please don't hesitate to contact Matt and Denise at: denisenin@yahoo.com (at yahoo.com). We will include his paperwork/training book, kennel, bedding, toys, treats/food, dishes, muzzle, lead, collars/leashes, harness, and hygienic items. Please note, we are only willing to give Vladimir away to an individual who is fully aware of his temperament, experience with this breed of dog and/or aggressive dogs and is willing to deal/work with his aggression in a positive way. We love Vladimir and want him to be loved back. We want to find a good home for him that will ensure a harm free environment for himself and others where he can live out his life. My husband and I have tried many training techniques from books, vets, etc. but we feel that it might be something triggered in his breeding. This is our first pet and it is hard to let him go but with his unpredictable behavior with others and with a baby on the way, my husband and I cannot take the chance keeping Vladimir, though we love him so. I have a document that includes all of his behavior and incidents, as well as a list of things that we have tried if you are interested in looking it over.
