ACCC takes chicken industry to court

Dear luciano,

First some good news — 18 months of behind the scenes work has finally led to the ACCC laying charges against the Australian chicken meat industry for misleading consumers about factory farming.

This week also represents the final days before Labor is expected to vote on a motion that, if passed, could end the cruellest aspect of live animal export — the slaughter of fully conscious animals without stunning. This critical vote is now expected to occur next Tuesday. Please see below how you can have your say before the vote.

Urgent action needed to support live export vote

The ALP and Coalition deem 'International Standards' (OIE guidelines) an appropriate benchmark for the treatment of animals in the live export trade. These standards permit the slaughter of fully conscious animals. Next week, the ALP may vote on whether to outlaw this most brutal aspect of live animal export. Your voice has helped put this proposal on the table so please help us convince Labor to do the right thing next week. Send an instant campaign letter today.

Happy Endings

Watch the joyous moment when 10 chimps were freed after 30 years without seeing the outdoors — many of those years spent in a medical research lab, used as test subjects. Help extend their freedom to others by calling on the Australian Government to ban the importation of primates for research.
