I am looking for a Dachshund rescue organization in the New England area and thought maybe you could help. I have a male, short haired dachshund that due to changing family situations I need to find a good home for. He is 9 years old and in excellent health. He has seen the vet regularly and is up to date on all shots. He is at his ideal weight per the vet.
I was wondering if you can help me or put me in touch with someone who can. I do not want to surrender him to the local Humane Society if I can possibly avoid it. He's a very loving pet and adjusts well to adults and small children once he gets to know them. He is protective when strangers come to the home but away from home he allows anyone to approach and pet him.
If you can help me I would appreciate it.
I'm hoping you can give me some direction or a person to talk to. I live in Winthrop, Maine but I'm willing to drive him a reasonable distance to find him a good home.
