A chamois [spelling? is great for rubbing them off. It also gets a bunch of little hairs! Supposed to make them shiny, but I've not really seen that.

I like the image of dusting the dog. <G> A hound mitt would be good to
rub down the dog and remove loose skin and hair, without drying her
skin through frequent bathing.
