The purpose of the breed's bite is to make "holding on" more efficient.
Straight tooth to tooth, the skin/clothing/whatever can pull through.
With the top teeth dropping behind the bottom teeth, it's much more
difficult to "get away."
You want the teeth to drop behind, without interference, but you don't
want a lot of clearance between them. They should sit close fairly snug.
