Lyn White Investigator & Campaign Director URGENT: Call on Labor to prevent brutal slaughter Many people are shocked to learn that despite new restrictions for the continuation of live export, there are no guarantees that animals will be stunned before slaughter. As a result, most animals exported from Australia still have their throats cut while fully conscious and die a slow and painful death. A new move by concerned Labor backbenchers offers real hope that this practice could soon be outlawed. A 'notice of motion' put forward by Labor MP Tony Zappia is soon due for debate in caucus and if passed would prohibit live export to all destinations where it cannot be guaranteed that animals be stunned unconscious before slaughter.
