[boxer lovers] Willie B rides on a stretcher - wish there were pics....

Monday I had to have a CT with the radiation for a Vascular study at
the hospital. My appointment was at 1:00. First they had to do pre-CT
blood work, and that came back as borderline for my being hydrated
quiet enough to make sure I peed enough after the CT to make sure I
peed all the radioactive stuff out. SO, they decided to keep me there
in short stay to give IV fluids before the CT and then again after it.

Wayne had not gone in with Willie B and I as it was such a walk from
the parking garage to registration and the CT area. This is because
he just had surgery last Thursday on his hip. The lining had broken
loose from the socket and they went in and repaired that. That was
PROBABLY caused by when the woman hit him in the crosswalk a little
over a year ago, but no proving it now. He sat in the car to read
while we were gone. Well, I called him when they wanted to change all
this around, and he said he'd go get something to eat, for me to call
him when they were done with me. Instead of being there for half hour
or 45 minutes like it should have been, wound up being there till
right at 7 last night. sigh:::

They had already put the IV port in there in Radiology in preparation
for the CT. So when they took me up to short stay they hooked me up
with an IV and brought me warm blankets as it was FREEZING in the
room. They also brought Willie one to lay on and one for him to cover
up with, plus a pan of water. <grin> So many at that hospital have
met Willie B on other occasions and love him to pieces. We both
settled in and took naps. I took his harness off so he could be more
comfortable taking his nap while we waited. Left his collar on, and
hooked his leash to it just in case it was needed for anything, which doubted.

Then the nurse and "transporter" woke me to take me down for the CT.
The transporter brought a stretcher to take me on. I asked her if she
could please get a wheelchair as Willie B is good about walking to
the left rear of a wheelchair from other experiences at the hospital.
The transporter wasn't too sure she should do that, seemed she
thought it would take too long for her to switch out, making me late
to get to CT. sigh::: So, the nurse asked me if Willie would get in
the bed (stretcher) with me. I said no problem with him getting in
bed with me, just not sure how he will react to riding on a bed
through the halls.

Well, we did it! When I got on the stretcher I told Willie to get up
and he did. He was facing me, not realizing of course what was going
to happen. He did good, but was a little nervous as he was facing me,
and he kept wanting to turn his head to see where we were going.
Coming back from CT when he got on the stretcher he made sure he got
on sitting between my legs, facing so he could see where we were
going and was much, much happier with that arrangement. The comments,
and CHEERS, as well as the looks I could see, and tons I am sure I
could not see, were hysterical.

Oh, there were two techs who took care of doing my scan. BOTH of them
have a Boxer. Willie stayed with them in the anteroom, giving them
Boxer fixes during their work schedule, and loving it.
