The dog was FOUND!!!
He was found at Smith Point Park and brought to the Brookhaven Animal Shelter.
Here is my response to a Brookhaven Aminal Shelter email that i recieved while at the shelter that tells the story.
HAPPY ENDING!!! Thank you so very much for this quick email response to the ad i posted on craigslist last night about the "lost black mini-dachshund in Shirley". YES, I FOUND HIM!! That WAS the dachshund i was looking for. I retraced my route from when i positively last saw him in my jeep and went back to Smith Point Park where i had been just before going to Boston Market. When I inquired at the Suffolk Country Parks Outer Beach check-in station, they told me then that they had found a black dachshund on the outer beach. They directed me to the Brookhaven Animal Shelter where I was able to positvely identify "Rocky", my brother & family black dachshund that i am dogsitting for. He is back safe now with his brother dachshund "Buddy" and my own two cocker spaniels. I imagine he must have come out of his harness and either fallen out or jumped out on the beach at some point right before we left the park. i did not realize it with the other three dogs in the back also until coming out of the Boston Market in Shirley. Thank you again. Please keep up the good work that you do at the shelter.
Lost black mini dachsund June 30, 2011 at around 8:15pm near Boston Market in Shirley. Dog broke loose from collar and jumped out of car while I was inside. I am dogsitting this dog and need to find him ASAP!!! Family will be absolutely heartbroken. Please Help
