Welcome Melissa! I too am new to this forum...only about 2 weeks. My girl Heidi likes to just carry around my shoes. She will move one to where she wants it and go get the other one and put it with the first. Has never chewed them....just likes to put them where she thinks they should be..which sometimes is on the couch. Have you given her plenty of things she is allowed to chew on? In my experience, food aggression is one of the hardest (and unfortunately sometimes impossible) issue to resolve. In that situation, separate them totally to feed...crate, or room you can close a door, etc. for meals. She will start to relax if she doesn't feel the need to be wary of the other dog, etc. She may also come around when she realized she will always have food a-plenty, too.
Be patient with her and just love her and she will certainly love you back....sounds like she already does...but that will grow, too.

Subject: [boxer lovers] Introduction
I just wanted to introduce myself as I've just joined. My name is Melissa, and I live in Alabama with my husband and eleven year old son.
Years ago I was a member of a boxer list, but I'm not sure if it was this one. I got busy and lost touch. Anyway, at that time, I had Bossk, our first boxer. Then, and we added Lucas who was a stray. A year after Bossk passed, we got Zeke and still have him. He is five years old.
Lucas just passed away at the age of eleven earlier this month. He had congestive heart failure. He also had a growth which was I was sure would be his demise, but turns out I was wrong. Anyway, we have ended up with a new girl I intended to foster only, but I fell in love with her. She came from a shelter and really must have had it tough because she was terribly thin and had skin issues. Her skin looks so much better and she had gained weight, although she's still skinny compared to Z. Also, she had been spayed and has healed nicely from that. She is so sweet and Zeke loves her.
Our only two issues we have to work through is her occasional food aggression (towards Zeke, not us) and she loves to chew shoes. MY shoes, only. So we are working through that. Lucas was old crabby grandpa and didn't really play much with Zeke these last few years, so he is really loving having someone who will really PLAY! He hasn't been like this since he last played with his littermate sister who sadly was killed by a car two years ago. We didn't have her, but a relative did and he would bring her by. It broke our hearts when she died.
Oh, and the new girl's name is Lucy. I think I forgot to mention that. If I can just stop the shoe habit we will be all set. At least now I remember to put away my shoes!
