If your vet said he was in the early stages kidney failure in June, I would

check that the weight loss is not associated with kidney failure. Kidney

failure does cause weight loss, and with a diagnosis, incontinence and

weight loss that would be the chief suspect.

I hope this is not the case. I would take him to the vet again to obtain an

accurate diagnosis of his status now. You could try something like Satin

Balls, or a high fat diet, but it would be better to find out, and his

problems may be alleviated with the appropriate medication, but only the vet

can help.

Kind regards

Subject: [boxer lovers] Boxer Losing Weight

Does anyone have suggestions as to why my boxer is losing weight? I haven't

changed his diet. In June, I took my 10-year old boxer to the vet. He had a

kidney infection, which we treated with antibiotics (is over that) and blood

tests (which were fine).

At that time the vet informed me he was in early stages of kidney failure

but couldn't tell me how long he would live. Even before the visit to the

vet, he had started having urinary accidents, unintentional, he just can't

hold it. In fact, he tries licking up the urin while looking at me with his

big sad brown eyes, as if saying I'm sorry mom.

He is now becoming horribly thin, while my other 10-year old is healthy even

though she had a stroke six years ago. I worked with her training to walk

again. Her gimp leg is getting worse and hip displaysia has set in. Kids are

grown and pets are old, have a 20-year old cat too.

Anyway, the dogs used to sleep with me, now, they have to sleep on their

beds beside mine. For my buddy Bozworth who seems to be happy, what type of

food would you recommend me to feed him? Has anybody else experienced this?

If so what would you recomend?

Thanks,

Chillinnco
