From: LadyB [mailto:ladyb_thefirst@yahoo.com] Sent: Friday, July 22, 2011 10:27 PM To: jrangan@teleport.com Subject: Do you recall Digger? I was about to put this ad on craigslist when I found yours, and my partner and I decided to contact you instead. Four years ago when I was in danger of losing my house and placed an ad to rehome my dachshund Digger on craigslist before he was neutered, you very kindly contacted me to tell me the dangers of doing so, and asked that I put him in rescue instead. I was really impressed that you were so caring, yet ultimately decided against rehoming The situation has now become untenable. The poor little guy is unhappy living with two of my 3 other dogs, one in particular, and we've also added a large cat to the mix. Digger seems to feel insecure these days, has become whiny, and wants more and more attention. He's taken to fighting back at the dominant dog, who is hairless, and I've had to pull them apart a few times with the other dog getting scratched up and bitten. Digger has also become very gray over the last few months and he''s much too young for that, I'm afraid that he has way too much stress here and it's getting to him. I really want what's best for him and we think that putting him in rescue is the right thing to do. While I'm concerned about the fostering period affecting him badly in the short term, I know that you'll find him a good and suitable permanent home. Please contact me and let me know if you can help us. Thank you for your time. _________________________ Sweet short haired dachshund Adorable and sweet 10 pound neutered male purebred dachshund, no papers, born 9/20/2006. Microchipped and in good health, brought up to date on shots and had a dental cleaning this past week. Very cute with short soft fur in the Wild Boar coloring, reddish brown gold black mix with a light reddish face mask and a darker stripe on the back. Housebroken and will whine to go out. Well mannered and playful, he loves attention, cuddling and giving kisses. One owner since puppyhood, he's been raised around adults exclusively, and is not good with younger children. He's aggressive to small animals and selective about other pets; loves some, loathes others, and is prematurely gray due to the stress of an adversarial relationship with one of my other dogs, who is dominant and picks on him. He needs constant companionship and would be best with one other dog, or preferably as a companion service animal who can go everywhere with his owner. A little chubby by nature, he's fed a no grain diet and needs to exercise to keep trim. Rehoming fee will be $150. I spent more than that at the vet last week and am not making money on this, just need to know that his new owner can afford to keep him. Looking to rehome him permanently and to the right forever home so am not in a hurry, and will have a series of questions for anyone who inquires. |
