From: Tahnya Drager [mailto:tahnyadrager@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 19, 2011 6:01 PM To: jrangan@teleport.com Subject: daschund rescue Hi. My name is Tahnya and I live with a four year old daschund, Pluto. About two months ago, Pluto suffered the same fate that many daschunds do...back displasia...and is a parapalegic. We believe that life is precious, and paid for his vet bills, and bought him a wheel chair. He has adjusted well, but incontinence has become an issue. I have two small children living in my home and due to Pluto's incontinence my house has begun to smell like the shelter, there are dog 'pellets' everywhere, and I am cleaning floors and bedding daily. Both my husband and I work full time. Diapering him is not an option, but neither is making my children ill due to the urine and feces that now permeate my home. I cannot in good conscience kennel him for extended periods of time, but I have reached my tolerance level. I have an appointment next Monday, July 25th, to have him euthanized. I don't want to, but feel I have little choice. My contacting you is my last option. If there is any way he could find a home, perhaps with someone not so busy, with time to give him and his special needs, I would be very thankful. He is neutered, is current on his vaccinations, weighs about 7 lbs, is a dapple (looks like a cross between a daschund and a holstein cow), and has been well loved and is a good member of our family. He actually killed a possum after his palarysis, so he's very much still a daschund. I work from 7 to 3, M - F, so if you can't reach me, I will return your call. Many thanks for reading my message. ~ Tahnya | | |
