Hi,
Chancy was also attacked by mosquitos a few years ago. He'd only been out for about 3 minutes one morning, but he was down by our pond. I saw him biting at them. I called him up to the house, but he was already developing hives/welts. These are the pics I took to send to his vet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tulip222/?saved=1 He didn't seem to be itchy or in discomfort, so we ended up talking to the vet and then giving him a benedryl. By afternoon they had pretty much subsided. I was in a panic as I'd never seen such a reaction, but maybe I was just use to long hair dogs and never saw what was happening under their fur. Regardless, it was scary, especially hearing about the reactions other boxers have had. I'd heard that wiping them down with a dryer sheet before they go out can ward off the mosquitos. We tried it a few times, but don't really know if it worked, since he hasn't had an episode like that since... with or without dryer sheets.
Have a great weekend,
Teresa and Chancy
