For those of you in the US, this is the biggest weekend for lost dogs! Even the sanest, calmest most obedient dog can get completely freaked by the loud whistle and bang of fireworks. And in every neighborhood there is that one jerk who spent a small fortune on fireworks and needs to set them off ... night after night after night.
Keep your animals in doors as much as possible. Go outside with them when you let them out so if they panic they can SEE you. Hopefully they'll run to you and not away.
Make sure your fences are secure and your gates firmly closed. If you walk on a leash make sure you have some non-slip (out of) collar. Indoors I keep a radio or TV on and playing loouder than to help mask the noise.
I hope you all have a safe amd happy holiday ... and that your pups survive the human idiocy.
