Re: Rocky

Everyone has a different opinion on that.  My dogs have always been self feeders and the reason Hannah is overweight is because everytime I turn around my patient is feeding her something from the kitchen! She has dementia and does not remember for more than a couple minutes. Anyway, Cinnamon is doing fine with it because he has always been the more active of the 2.  Hanna does run alot chasing birds and squirrels but he just has a faster metabolism then Hanna.  But all that being said, they rarely eat their food until evening after we eat supper.  I am hoping that by eliminating the grains from their food that it will help because she gets fed and will eat anything that is given to her. (except mushrooms)

I thought about that myself. Should I take up the dish or leave it. she sometimes goes back to her old way and eats as she always did. she would get a cup every day and I would divide it so she would have some for the early morning, tiny bit lunch and then supper. could she be cutting herself down? She hasnt ate yet and it is 9am. she is taking a nap.

Hey Donna,

It sounds like she is eating just at different times. Remember that an adult dog does not need as much food as a puppy.

hey Pam, think Dottie is getting bored with her food. Does that happen?I am not sure what I am going to do. I only have stuff like walmart and Harris Teeter to buy Dog food. May have to look in to it. My Vet want to put her the green bean diet. half cup of food and half cup of green beans. Havent done it yet. She has gotten were she doesnt eat in the morning, she may eat what I put down that morning at lunch and then again it could be dinner before she eats. Dont know what she is doing.

Try changing his food to a grain free diet. I switched my dogs over to Taste of the Wild about 2 months ago and they LOVE it!  I switched mine because Hannah has a weight problem so I wanted to eliminate the grains. Their coats are just beautiful!  Often times a dog with allergies has a problem with the food but the vets don't ever seem to tell the owners that. They want to keep treating the dog. Or they will recommend Science Diet which is loaded with chemicals. Think about what your dog would be eating if he/she lived in the wild. How many wolves do you see with skin problems?

My mother has a ten year old red dachsund that is having horrible problems with his skin. Has been getting alergy shots periodically for quite a while but now worse than ever. He's miserable - his coat is awful and my mother is just heartsick to ease his discomfort. Anyone have this experience? I had a red dachsie myself who died in 2006....at 11...I never had any problems with his skin.

Sad in Texas ~ any suggestions or experience to offer would be great!
