Of course, going back to herd dynamics, when irrationality causes some
animals to break from the herd into dangerous directions, many times the
herd follows. This also happens with illnesses. Simply by not being
vaccinated, themselves, some members allow the illness to grow in them, thus
allowing the illness to grow stronger. This makes the illness more difficult
to overcome. It either opens the entire herd to another, possibly severe
outbreak or to prevent such an outbreak, requires the vaccine be stronger.
Of course, from a strength of the species standpoint, it might be better, in
the millennial view, to allow the illnesses to weed out the weaker or more
susceptible of the species, thus making the species stronger. Protecting the
weak and allowing them to survive, thrive and reproduce, produces a weaker
species overall.
However, as a species with emotions and compassion, we have used our
compassion and intelligence to protect the weak and breed them back into the
species. We shall see, in the long run, whether vaccines were a wise idea at
all. Of course, we won't see but generations from now, historians will look
back and decide.

A lot of these things are decided for us...whether good or bad when deciding
they take the majority's response most of the time and therefore for the
majority's sake it is a good thing...but as you said there are going to be
those that can't handle many different products and medicines...Wish that we
could be able to know in advance what can be tolerated and what can't and
then as the article says...we may not even know what long range effect these
things have on us...
I think the vaccines are a good thing but too much of it is where I wonder
where to make the limit...I have read that vaccinating every year is not
necessary and can be harmful in many cases...
So again when the choice is ours to make we have to evaluate the information
we have and choose...hopefully we make the right choice... it is a shot in
the dark many times... because until many are affected by something
negatively they will continue to push the use of it...we see that in drugs
and food products in the past few years...
I do agree that if your animals or yourself are going to be exposed to high
risk areas then you should opt for the protection against the diseases that
are out there. That only makes sense... I have immunised all my dogs with
the initial shots. I have left a longer time between the vaccines though and
we are not out in the public with them either...They never leave home except
to go to the Vet...so I think that makes a big difference too...
