It is with more sadness than I can say, Britania Marie lost her battle yesterday
morning at 8 to CRF. She was doing well, was a year and a half into it, when
all of a sudden she had an acute attack of pancreatitis, was given a shot on
Friday for vomiting, Sat. we took her to the ER, she was admitted, severely
dehydrated, was put on IV fluid flush, her kidneys totally shut down, no
urine output, they hyper flushed and because of lack of protein in her blood,
the fluids leaked through along with blood. She was such a fighter, she wasn't
ready, but her body couldn't take anymore. The only thing that helps me right
now is the fact that I know she is free of pain, and in with her brother Oakley.
Penny and Angel Britania Marie and Angel Oakley, together again, forever.

Subject: Foster Home Desperately needed for sweet pregnant Boxer-X Girl
Alice is a beautiful and sweet approx 4 year old fawn and white boxer mix girl
who happens to be in a full term pregnancy and ready to pop any time. Alice was
rescued from the Springdale Shelter today minutes before she was slated for
euthanasia due to the shelter being so overcrowded and their inability to deal
with whelping mothers. We have her safe right now at Southwest Pet Hospital,
but do not have the facilities to allow her to whelp and care for her pups. We
are desperately seeking a temporary foster home for Alice and her soon to be
pups for approximately 4-6 weeks.
Alice was picked up by animal control as a stray (or more likely a dump) at the
Walmart on Pleasant ave. She has apparently had numerous litters in the past
and looks like she has just been bred into the ground. Poor Alice is skin and
bones weighing in at 59 pounds, but likely 20+ pounds of her is her pups. Alice
is super sweet, loves attention from people and despite being SO pregnant, does
fine with other dogs (she just ignores them). So far since rescuing Alice, she
has kept her space very clean, and appears to possibly be housetrained (though
I've been walking her frequently as there is not much room in her belly for her
poor little bladder!). Alice does fine on a leash and has great manners. I
think she would be a wonderful house guest for anyone willing to help.
Southwest Pet Hospital will assume all of the medical costs Alice and her pups
need and we can help with providing her food. We will make sure Alice and her
pups get the vaccines, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention they need and
make sure everyone is spayed and neutered and microchipped before finding their
forever home.
If you are interested in fostering Alice and her pups or want more information,
please let us know. Please forward to anyone that might be able to help!
Sincerely,
Michelle Wendell, DVM
