I don't know if a Sharpie would work, but a red or black one she couldn't lick off. I'm sorry you are having to have this done. We just had our Cash in and had a growth that looked like a mole on steroids,surgically removed, and two little "popcorn" moles burned off. It is scary, but we will be hoping for the best for Marciano.
