Re: introduction and questions

I know my doxie can swim and LOVES it.  Its one of the things we do to keep her back strong.  We keep her in shallower water, just for her safety.  So when she tires out, she is still in a safe spot.

Jumping etc.... OMG we were told not to let her jump.  RIGHT.  LET her.  If I can I will stop her, but for example if she wants to check something out at night, she jumps off the bed and when she is done, she jumps back on it.  No letting involved.  We tried ramps, steps etc, and she will NOT use them.  When she sees a critter in the back yard, or the other dogs take off down the porch, she is right with them.  She has had spinal surgery, and we managed to keep her from not doing bad stuff while recovering.  Then poof she was boucning up and down stairs and everything.  Where we live now, we do not have stairs, cept in the back yard.  If she is having a rough day, she will walk to the bottom of the steps and bark.  One little bark.  We pick her up and put her on the landing and she trots away.

The hiar loss on the ears... if its just the ends, it could be from rubbing, shaking the head, etc.  Or flies.  I know flies got my foxhounds ears bad one year.  It was literally from one day to the next the hair was gone and it took a few weeks to come back.  We had to try to kill flies around cattle.... right.

Nowhere near an expert on this stuff, just my $.02
