HB 1451 OPPOSE it this morning.
HB 1451 is on the calendar for a vote on the House floor Thursday April 21. Please call your TEXAS reps today and ask your rep to oppose it. It is not only that "some" of the bill is bad, but it will set a precedent for the rest of the country and then they will use the same tactics to legislate small and large livestock, poultry, exotics (llamas, alpaca, mini horses, goats, cattle), equine large and small, fowl of all sorts. I remind you that they tried to put through a $75 a head flatulence tax for cattle last legislative session. There is no end to what they will attempt to legislate once they are successful with one bill. Colleen (Thompson's aide who wrote the bill) said that there are exemptions for show breeders and for what they call "presumption of breeding," but I don't know.
Please call your rep's office this morning and ask him/her to oppose HB1451 and that there are alredy animal cruelty laws on the books that should be enforced before they come up with new ones.
